Hard liquor and arguing over trivia — Is there any better combination? Well, if the raucous scene is corralled by none other than Todd Margaret star David Cross, then indeed it can. Last night, Todd himself hosted a pub trivia night at the Django club in New York City’s Roxy Hotel and followed the festivities with a Todd Margaret Q&A — officially dubbed “Todd Talk.” Cross fielded fan queries and offered a taste at what went into the making of the unexpected third season.
Here are some of the highlights:
Although Cross doesn’t expect a fourth season of Todd Margaret, he confessed, “Of course, that’s what I said last time.”
If you were wondering how much Todd and David are alike, the star shared that he’s much more like the character from Season Three than the previous seasons.
Scheduling conflicts prevented a guest appearance by Jon Hamm, which is a shame because the premise sounds pretty fantastic. According to Cross, “We’d written this great thing for Jon Hamm where he’s in therapy because everyone keeps thinking he’s Jon Hamm.”
The Todd Margaret writers room doesn’t have a wall of red yarn connecting various plot lines as per A Beautiful Mind. They did fine with just index cards, Cross said.
Out of all the lies that Todd has said through the series, David’s favorite was “I live in the Houses of Parliament.”
Check out some photos from the event below, and be sure to catch the return of a very, very different Todd tonight at 10P on IFC.
