Writers Guild Award members must’ve been feeling their inner curmudgeon this year as Marc Maron‘s eponymous, semi-autobiographical series Maron scored a nomination for Best Writing for an Episodic Comedy. Writer Dave Anthony — who also plays himself in the series and co-hosts the stellar podcast The Dollop — earned his and the show’s first WGA nomination for the third season episode “Racegate.” Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, the episode revolves around Marc trying to add diversity to his show by inviting comedian Bruce Bruce onto the podcast. (It doesn’t go so well.)
With this nod by the WGA, Maron and Anthony join an esteemed group of comedies like Veep, The Last Man on Earth, and Silicon Valley who’ve all shown that keeping up with great TV is a full-time job.
Be sure to check back for more updates on Season 4 of Maron, coming to IFC in 2016. And in case you need another visit to the Cat Ranch, catch up on Maron on iTunes, Amazon, Netflix (season 3 hits the streaming service December 28th) and right here on IFC.com.
