Though I’m currently battling flu-like symptoms, I’m pretty sure I saw what I think I saw last night:
Today, as promised on the landing page of the Beastie Boys’ website, they’ll be releasing the Collector’s Edition of their 1992 album, Check Your Head–featuring digitally re-mastered tracks, as well as bevy of b-sides and rarities. Apparently the Beasties couldn’t wait three years to give Check Your Head a proper 20th Anniversary party, like they […]
With CD’s inevitably going the way of the dinosaur, 8-tracks, cassette tapes, Blender Magazine and Crystal Clear Pepsi; CD artwork isn’t too far behind. Yes, album covers will always exist–even if they’re just reduced to being a piece of clip art on your iPod screen–but what about artwork on the CD itself?
Would Kanye West have the final say against TV On The Radio? Could Karen O lead her squad to the Final Four? Did Franz Ferdinand dethrone rock royalty? Did the clock strike midnight for The Thermals?
Sadly, my seven-year streak of attending SXSW came to an end this year. No live music for four straight days (sigh), no warm weather for an east coaster looking to escape a winter that doesn’t want to end (sigh), no discovering a handful of promising, up-and-coming indie rock bands (sigh), and no gnawing on a […]
Whew, 2009 is just flying by, huh? We’re already one-fourth of the way through the year. If this were a football game it’d be time to switch ends and start the second quarter. The battle for Garden State supremacy, two of Brooklyn’s favorites go at it, The Black Keys attempt to take out U2, and the most anticipated tournament pairing ever: Morrissey vs. The Cure:
Inspired by their picture on the cover of SPIN Magazine and my recent review of Cadillac Records, I’ve decided that I’m going to write/direct/produce a full-length motion picture on the lives and times of U2–yes, another musical biopic, if you will.
Last month, when Morrissey released his new album, Years of Refusal–featuring a picture of him toting a toddler under his arm–a few blog postings popped up on the internet recalling other musical artists that have used infant children as cover babies for their album. I also came across this list recently, which features just about […]
Whenever I used to host MTV2’s Subterranean–which for a while we shot in actual basements–the bands and I would always joke that there wasn’t a basement or dive bar in New York City that didn’t feature at least one penis drawing. This kid in England took it to a whole other level.
