Even if your age is a few decades shy of actually getting the references, Will Ferrell’s Harry Caray impression is no less hilarious. Shaky, grimacing, and wearing eyeglasses the size of windshields, the SNL alum’s caricature is nevertheless a love letter to the legendary sportscaster, who peppered his commentary with folksy aphorisms and immortal catchphrases. This week, Ferrell donned the Caray get-up and dropped by The Late Show with David Letterman as Dave winds down his 30-year-plus run as a late night host. Ferrell, who continued to mistake the host for Ed Sullivan, asked Dave, “When’s Topo Gigio coming out?” and “What are we going to do about this wall in Berlin?” Although the name-drops may fly over the heads of the kiddies, do yourself a favor and watch Ferrell crack Dave up with some literal inside-baseball.
