With David Letterman wrapping up over three decades of hosting a late night chat show, he’s welcoming his favorite guests to give him a proper send-off. And coming on the heels of Will Ferrell’s goofy impression of Harry Caray this week, Martin Short stopped by the Ed Sullivan stage to croon a little ditty for Dave. Not just any song, mind you, but a fitting tribute for Dave’s final days on the air — specifically, one to be played after he died. “To be honest, I wrote it for your funeral,” Short admitted. Mostly comprised of posthumous back-patting, Short’s song culminated in a big finale featuring a glitzy “Rest in Peace, Dave!” message and the promise to meet Dave “in Hell” someday.
