Schlubby and stoic comedian Louis C.K. returns to TV this week with his semi-eponymous series Louie for its fifth season. Known for its pitch-black humor and dramatic arcs reminiscent of Woody Allen films, the show has achieved iconic status for its slice-of-mundanity intro. Backed by Errol Brown and Tony Wilson’s 1973 hit “Brother Louie,” we see Louis traipsing through the streets of Manhattan, grabbing a slice, and ducking into The Comedy Cellar for a set.
And although there isn’t much similarity beyond a rhyming name, The Nerdist’s Jack Herrguth conceptualized the sequence with our favorite Wookiee, Chewbacca, in place of the comic. The clip recreates the intro shot-for-shot and even includes a fun bird-flipping cameo by another member of the Star Wars universe. Unfortunately, we can’t say much for Chewie’s stand-up material. It’s pretty heavy on Bantha droppings jokes from what we hear.
