Eccentric affectations are a gamble. As anyone who owns a beret can tell you, an unconventional touch to your personality will get your foot in a conversation’s door, but ensuring that it doesn’t monopolize the discussion is as difficult as finding the perfect pair of brass gears for your steampunk goggles.
Such is the case with Will Ferrell’s recent visit to Conan. What could’ve been a normal, straightforward promotion for his and Kevin Hart’s new comedy Get Hard is completely derailed all because of a simple tropical bird. With all due respect to the actor, he does his best to keep his personal life and the life of his companion, Professor Don Feathers, out of the interview. But Conan is renowned for his gotcha journalism, and when one graces his stage with the slightest deviation from the norm, the host invariably jumps on it.
