Attention hobbit lovers: We’re heading to Middle Earth tonight at 8/7c when we show The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The film is the follow-up to The Fellowship of the Rings and the precursor to The Return of the King and is fun-filled and action-packed as any middle child. (* cough*) Peter Jackson’s epic follows Frodo (Elijah Wood) as he attempts to destroy the One Ring before it destroys him. With Gollum tracking his every move, Frodo is helped in his quest by his fellow hobbit Samwise (Sean Astin) and Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellan) who turns from Grey to White upon is return to the scene. One of the visual highlights of the film is the Battle of Helm’s Deep, not because we are pro-war, but because the spectacle is truly jaw-dropping.
While Jackson’s film is awe-inspiring on many levels, so are some of the fan-made creations available on YouTube, especially the videos that mash-up The Two Towers with other films. Here are some of our favorites that you can watch now before tuning in to The Two Towers tonight at 8/7c and/or 11:45/10:45c. (You can watch both, we won’t judge.)
Here’s one set to the visuals of the old The Transformers cartoons:
Harry Potter meets The Two Towers:
Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is better when mashed up with The Two Towers:
Of course, Star Wars got mashed up:
Finally the inevitable The Lion King and The Two Towers mash-up:
