The crowd-sourced live-album documentary is nothing new, but that doesn’t prevent it from being fascinating to watch. Think of David Cross’ Let America Laugh, for example, which places a greater emphasis on the stand-up’s interactions with fans and other random strangers on the road than it did his own onstage performances. Well, Tig Notaro — whose Comedy Bang! Bang! appearances are always flavorful and quirky — is continuing on that tradition and doing arguably one better: “At the beginning of August, Tig will be traveling across the country in order to put on a series of private comedy performances in the homes, back yards, driveways, and cul-de-sacs of her most loyal fans. The performances will be filmed as part of a documentary that is being produced for SHOWTIME.”
