I’m not one to get extremely, extremely carried away from the slightest possibility of something maybe kinda sorta perhaps happening, but this is nevertheless very very cool: Beloved, super-influential Canadian sketch troupe The Kids in the Hall have let it slip that they’re “in talks” to maybe reunite once again.
This would be the second or third reunion for the group depending on how you view things after their ‘90s TV show. They reunited technically for a tour earlier this millennium, and then they reunited again for the 2010 dark miniseries Death Comes to Town. If you haven’t seen Death, it’s well worth tracking down as it features lots of the group’s cross-dressing mashed up with a heavy dash of narrative structure and murder mystery. It’s weird.
At the very least, the group was together on Friday to tape an episode of Spun Out, “an upcoming CTV comedy starring group member Dave Foley.” That episode will air sometime in 2014, so who the heck knows what the future holds beyond that.
Check out The Star for more information on this, though be warned there really isn’t much to know just yet. Only Mark McKinney’s vague promise that people should “stay tuned.”
But stay tuned to what, Mark?
You can stay tuned for this “Death Comes to Town” clip, if you’ve never seen it:
