After hitting the big leagues with films like “Pineapple Express,” “Your Highness,” and “The Sitter,” David Gordon Green has returned to the indie world with the Sundance favorite “Prince Avalanche.”
Judging by this trailer, “Prince Avalanche” is a comedy like those other films, but a much more meditative, cheaper one. We don’t get too much insight into the film’s plot here, though that could just be the trailer accurately illustrating the film’s lackadaisical lack of plot. That’s fine when you have Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch starring as what looks like a really young Mario and Luigi. That kind of thing never gets old, particularly when they are antagonistic toward each other.
Prince Avalanche opens in theaters and will be available On Demand starting August 9.
