Apparently, enough time has elapsed for what “Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz intended to be appropriate to watch the revived show’s phoenix-like fourth season on Netflix, because a deluge of official new stuff supporting the show is hitting the Internet. More specifically, on Netflix’s YouTube channel — which, yes, exists — the video-streaming service has started uploaded oodles of behind-the-scenes shorts. It’s almost as if they’re intended as DVD featurettes or something, perhaps?
They run the gamut from the actors talking about returning to their old characters to a particularly good-vibing one on wherein the cast reflects about working together again. Ordinarily, the sort of things they say would be ignored and dismissed as PR-approved superlatively blanket statements like how the show is “really, really good” and “so funny!” but here they’re understating things if anything. I’m not just saying that as a writer for IFC — it’s true, the fourth season is pretty solid, you guys.
Or, a Jessica Walter says in one of the videos: “I mean they don’t have ‘Arrested Development’ trees out there, you know what I’m saying?”
There are also some videos up there of the cast reflecting on some of their favorite moments from the previous series, and you’ll notice that they sound just like fans of the show like the rest of us. Even her.
