“Transformers 4” has added another cast member to its roster. Sophia Myles, best known for her work in “Tristan + Isolde” and “Underworld,” has joined the upcoming movie.
TheWrap has learned from insiders that Myles will play a scientist character in the new film. Beyond that, details of her involvement are being kept under wraps. It remains to be seen how major or minor her part ends up being.
So far there have only been new actors brought on board “Transformers 4,” but Tyrese Gibson said in a new interview that he’d like to reprise his role from the previous three “Transformers” movies if Bay will have him.
“I hope that I get that call,” Gibson told Coming Soon. “I hear there’s some kind of conversation that Josh [Duhamel] had with Michael Bay about coming back for ‘Four.’ I hope I get that call. ‘Transformers’ is still the only tattoo I’ve ever gotten on my body. We never had a cartoon called ‘Fast & Furious’ when we were kids. I had ‘Transformers’ when I was a kid and it was one of my favorite cartoons. I grew up understanding that ‘Transformers’ world and that ‘Transformers’ universe.”
“Transformers 4” is due out on June 27, 2014. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Raynor and Nicola Peltz. The film will reportedly head to space. Back in February, Bay said of the film, “We keep the Transformers the way they were, it’s just four years later. There’s a reason the Transformers are redesigned. We’re trying to broaden the franchise and give it more places to go.”
