The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 2 hasn’t even started yet and already the Avengers are being reunited. It’s being reported that “The Avengers 2” will start filming in London’s Pinewood-Shepperton Studios in early 2014.
Screen Daily has the news, saying that this will be the third movie in a row Marvel has shot in the Shepperton lot. “Thor: The Dark World” recently wrapped there, and “Guardians of the Galaxy” is expected to shoot in the UK this summer. Production on “The Avengers 2” is expected to begin later this year.
Though plot details about “The Avengers 2” are unknown, the film is expected to reunite Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner. Joss Whedon is writing and directing the project, which could also incorporate characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy. As the four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 2 — “Iron Man 3,” “Thor: The Dark World,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” — have not been released yet, we have no sense of what story the movie could tell. There’s also always the chance Ant-Man could be introduced in the movie, as “Ant-Man” is due in theaters on November 6, 2015.
“The Avengers 2” is due in theaters on May 1, 2015. Whedon previously teased of the film, “The creation of the team is not the happy ending. It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I get to dig a little deeper. And maybe, while I’m digging, just twist that knife. And that’s exciting for me.”
