The upcoming “Transformers 4” just got a big name added to its cast. Michael Bay revealed that Stanley Tucci will be joining the film in an undisclosed role while he was at Paramount Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation.
In other exciting “Transformers 4” news, Bay also revealed to Collider that he’s going to shoot the “big showcase scenes” in upcoming movie using IMAX’s new, smaller 3D digital camera. That means, yes, “Transformers 4” will be released in both IMAX and 3D.
As for why Bay won’t be shooting the entire film using the camera, he said his finishing company said it would be outputting too much data and “we’re screwed with the amount of computing power we’re going to need here.” While movies that are fully IMAX are gorgeous treats to watch, it also makes sense to just shoot the big blockbuster scenes in that format as well.
“Transformers 4” is due out on June 27, 2014. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Raynor and Nicola Peltz. The film will reportedly head to space. Back in February, Bay said of the film, “We keep the Transformers the way they were, it’s just four years later. There’s a reason the Transformers are redesigned. We’re trying to broaden the franchise and give it more places to go.”
When asked recently to describe “Transformers 4” in one phrase, Bay said, “Chase from Hell.”
