“X-Men: Days of Future Past” has gained a new cast member: Omar Sy. Director Bryan Singer confirmed “The Intouchables” star’s involvement on Twitter.
“Thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSy from the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast!” he tweeted.
According to Coming Soon, it is believed that Sy will play the mutant Bishop. He is a character that lives in the dystopian future touched upon in “Days of Future Past,” and travels back in time to the modern day to help the X-Men in the comics. He later turned into one of the series’ antagonists.
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” features returning actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore, and newcomer Peter Dinklage. Halle Berry’s return isn’t confirmed, but she recently said that it’s looking likely. The movie is due in theaters on July 18, 2014.
The official plot synopsis says “the storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men.”
