Just Jared reports that Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston arrived separately this week at the Vancouver International Airport to begin filming “Godzilla,” the upcoming remake of the cult monster classic. This will be the 29th film to feature the iconic monster, and the 2nd produced by American studios.
Cranston, 57, is coming to the set straight from filming the fifth (and final) season of AMC’s “Breaking Bad.” Taylor-Johnson, 22, recently starred in “Anna Karenina” and changed his name upon marrying his “Nowhere Boy” director, Sam Taylor-Wood. Also involved in the film are Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, and possibly David Strathairn as well. The remake will be directed by “Monsters” director Gareth Edwards.
Details surrounding the film have been scarce, however, Elizabeth Olsen spoke about the film’s tone in a recent interview with Absolute Radio: “It’s definitely not lighthearted,” she stated. “It’s kind of going back to its roots of the original Japanese film.”
“Godzilla” is due in theaters on May 16, 2014.
