“This Is 40” debuts red-band trailer

This Christmas, we’re going to learn all the nitty, gritty details about what it’s like being 40. Judd Apatow’s follow-up to “Knocked Up,” “This Is 40,” has debuted a red band trailer in anticipation of the movie’s December 21 release date.
There’s a lot more vagina and Viagra talk this time around, as the initial theatrical trailer focus more on catching us up with the Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s characters. This movie is arguably the most family-oriented one Apatow has ever made, and it remains to be seen whether it will rank up there with his best. The laughs are definitely there in the trailer, but we could easily see it going the same drama route that “Funny People went.
When we caught up with Apatow back in January, he explained to us why he chose to bring back the same actors — including his two daughters with Mann — for this new movie.
“I started thinking about writing a movie about a family and their midlife crisis, and then I realized I already have that family in one of my movies and I like them. Why do I have to meet new actors? I can use these amazing actors that people seem to like and were interested in learning more about and it came out really well,” he said.
“This Is 40” also stars Jason Segel, Melissa McCarthy, Albert Brooks, Chris O’Dowd, Megan Fox and John Lithgow.
