Welcome to The Automat: The IT Crowd

Posted by Melissa Locker on
The Automat may air early in the day, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore it. If you did, you would miss not only cult classic comedies like The Ben Stiller Show, Action, and Freaks and Geeks, but you would also miss out on The IT Crowd and never know the true brilliance of the phrase: “Did you turn it off and on?”
Starring Chris O’Dowd (“Bridesmaids”) Richard Ayaode (“The Watch”), Katherine Parkinson, and Matt Berry (The Mighty Boosh), Graham Linehan‘s wonderfully brilliant comedy The IT Crowd has taught us all a lot of things. For example, it has shown us that there are no goth traffic wardens, music and swimming pools are not the same thing, the phrase is actually “damp squib”, boss-eyedness is no joke, you should never let a masseuse get away with kissing your bottom, and staging an historical reenactment of the death of your girlfriend’s family is probably a bad idea.
With such helpful life lessons, it is clear that the show is a shining example of educational television. Also, it is laugh-out-loud funny and worth waking up early for (or, you know, setting your DVR and watching it with a pint later in the day). Check the schedule for showtimes. Watch this clip from season one, episode one and you’ll want to be part of the IT Crowd, too:
