Deadline is reporting that the studio is floating the idea of Carrey’s involvement in “Kick-Ass 2” around and seeing if anything will come out of it. The plan would be for Carrey to play The Colonel, a former employee of crime boss John Geonevese. He ends up becoming an ally of Kick-Ass in his crime fighting team Justice Forever after having a religious epiphany, and would be a “showy” supporting part.
So far “Kick-Ass 2” has some relatively big names lined up for its supporting roles. Donald Faison and Robert Emms play two Justice Forever members: Doctor Gravity and Insect Man, while John Lequizamo plays Red Mist’s body guard and Morris Chestnut plays Hit-Girl’s guardian. Carrey would be a great addition to the cast, and certainly bring the small superhero film more attention.
One major role that yet to be cast is that of the villain Mother Russia. We’ve been dying to know who will get the part of Red Mist’s ally, and now “Kick-Ass” co-creator Mark Millar has us even more interested. In an update he posted to his website, he teased an epic fight between Hit-Girl and Mother Russia.
“[I] am torn between the Hit-Girl and Mother Russia fight and the scene with Hit-Girl fighting the super-villains on the roof of the moving van,” Millar said of his two favorite scenes that the stunt teams have been performing. “Both are just mind-blowing. But the Mother Russia fight is going to be one of the most brutal and epic battles in cinema. Think how good Mindy is and then multiply it to 300 pounds of female muscle just pounding her and using every weapon you can imagine in the midst of that big final battle.”
He added, “This looks amazing with the stunt team and a temp. Imagine what it’s going to look like with the actors, Jeff’s direction, Eddie’s edits and a final soundtrack. I’m really, really excited.”
“Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall” stars Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz and Nicolas Cage. Directed by Jeff Wadlow, it’s due in theaters on June 28, 2013.
