The “d” might be silent in “Django Unchained,” but that doesn’t mean that this is a slave who’s about to keep quiet. A new 60-second TV spot for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie has hit the web, and it focuses on the quest Django (Jamie Foxx) goes on to save his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).
Of course, there will be plenty of detours along the way. Django might want to head straight for his wife after bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) purchases him, but they have some other business to attend to first. That is the business of killing, of course, and this teaser promises plenty of Tarantino violence in our near future.
Also something worth paying attention to in this footage is Samuel L. Jackson‘s character. An updated synopsis (that can be read below) offers some more information about his character, and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be a friend of either of our new avenging bounty hunters.
“Django Unchained” focuses on the partnership of Foxx’s Django and Waltz’s Schultz. Schultz purchases Django with plans to free him upon catching his quarry, but Django’s primary goal is rescuing his wife Broomhilda. Their hunt leads them to “Candyland,” a plantation where slaves are forced to fight one another for sport by their owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), and his slave trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell). It’s there that they arouse the suspicions of Candy’s most trusted slave Stephen (Jackson) and find themselves marks as they try to get Broomhilda out safely.”
Tarantino’s latest also stars Don Johnson, Walton Goggins, Tom Savini, Jonah Hill and many more. It’s due in theaters on Christmas Day.
