Jonah Hill joins “Django Unchained”

Well, at least we know who one of those “surprise co-stars” in “Django Unchained” is. It turns out that Jonah Hill has become a late addition to the cast of the upcoming Quentin Tarantino movie.
Deadline has the news, though they don’t know what part Hill will be playing. Interestingly enough, Hill was in talks for a role in the film back in the early stages of its casting. He was supposed to play Scotty Harmony, the person who loses title character Django’s wife Broomhilda to plantation owner Calvin Candie. Apparently Hill won’t be playing Scotty this time around, but we’re guessing he could pick up one of the other parts that were recently vacated.
“Django Unchained” focuses on the partnership of Foxx’s Django and Waltz’s bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz. Schultz purchases Django with plans to free him upon catching his quarry, but Django’s primary goal is rescuing his wife Broomhilda. Their hunt leads them to “Candyland,” a plantation where slaves are forced to fight one another for sport by their owner, Calvin Candie.
Tarantino’s latest stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington, Don Johnson, Walton Goggins, Tom Savini and many more. A few years ago, Hill’s name would have seemed like a strange addition to this list, but his Oscar-nominated turn in “Moneyball” proved that he deserves for his name to be in this impressive cast. Maybe he can get some pointers from Brad Pitt on how best to work with Tarantino.
