“The Dark Knight Rises” new trailer rumored to debut before “Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”

It’s been over three months since fans last received an official look at “The Dark Knight Rises.” The two-minute-long teaser offered a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming threequel, but it also left us yearning for more. Fortunately the rumor mill is saying that a new trailer will premiere in the not-so-distant future.
Batman on Film is reporting that this new trailer will be attached to the upcoming release of “Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows,” which hits theaters December 16. It’s not confirmed by Warner Bros, but it is believable. Director Christopher Nolan has a good relationship with the “Sherlock Holmes” franchise, as the first “Inception” trailer premiered with the release of “Sherlock Holmes” two years ago. With “The Dark Knight Rises” due out on July 20, it’s not too much of a stretch to think that a full-length teaser will hit theaters in late December.
Of course, fans willing to shell out a little extra cash already have a big “The Dark Knight Rises” premiere on the horizon. A six-minute-long prologue will premiere before IMAX screenings of “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol” (but only in theaters showing the 70mm resolution version). It’s unclear what that footage contains, but it will likely feature a look at “The Dark Knight Rises'” villains in action like the “The Dark Knight” prologue did. Coincidentally, “Ghost Protocol” also hits IMAX theaters on December 16.
