Filming on “R.I.P.D.” commenced in Boston a couple weeks ago now, but unlike purportedly more secretive films like “The Avengers” and “The Dark Knight Rises,” we’ve seen shockingly little evidence of the production aside from a brief fan video of James Hong and Marisa Miller at Fenway Park. But now, courtesy of some new set photos, we can get our first glimpse at Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Bacon in the comic book adaptation.
The photos, snagged by Accidental Sexiness, show Reynolds and Bacon preparing for a scene while standing around a certifiably badass red Dodge Challenger. In the film, based on the Dark Horse comic of the same name by Peter Lenkov and Lucas Marangon, Reynolds portrays a murdered cop who is enlisted into the Rest In Peace Department in an effort to track down his killer, played by Kevin Bacon.
The film also stars Jeff Bridges as Reynolds’ undead partner, and both have separate corporeal avatars, which is how they appear to the living. The grizzled Bridges will appear as Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller, while normal people will see Reynolds as elderly Chinese character actor James Hong.
