If you’re the Dutch composer and noted “sublime master of the lute,” Jozef Van Wissem, who do you get to jam your mystical compositions with for your next album? Clearly, you would get the inimitably cool minimalist director and comic book hair model, Jim Jarmusch. The two collaborated on a collection of mystical tracks called, “The Joy That Never Ends,” due out on Important Records June 28th.
I’ve never come across Wissem’s baroque plucking before, but The Playlist notes that he’s worked with guitarist James Blackshaw and experimental rocker, Keiji Haino, if that helps you out. Wissem plays a 13 course swanneck baroque lute and Jarmusch contributes electric guitar with sparse incantations by vocalist Jeanne Madic.
