On Saturday Night, C-Span, a channel Seth Meyer’s claims is best known for “wide angles of empty chairs”, aired the annual White House Correspondents Association Dinner. The dinner is the annual gathering of the Hollywood and Washington elites, where Congressmen can rub elbows with celebrities and comedians. This year, Saturday Night Live writer and star Seth Meyers addressed the gathered crowd for a roasting of, well, pretty much everyone. While his zingers hit everyone from the Hilton Hotel to Arianna Huffington to Vice President Joe Biden, his most notable target was Donald Trump, the billionaire-turned-birther who may be running for president. Mr. Trump — who was in the room — held a stony visage as Meyers talked about “the fox” that appears on his head, his OTB accent, and his relationship with “the Blacks.”
In light of the recent news, one joke made by Meyers was particularly prescient. As Meyers explained, “People think Bin Laden is hiding in the Hindu Kush, but did you know that everyday from 4 to 5 he hosts a show on CSPAN?” Now that the death of 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden has been confirmed, President Obama’s reaction (the screen shot is above) is priceless. And who wants to bet that the second Meyers mentioned Bin Laden, some top brass at the Pentagon were doing spit takes?
