Every spring the television broadcast networks trot out their fall and midseason lineups at annual presentations for advertisers and media. These so-called upfronts allow the networks to tell the world what shows are going to be renewed, what shows are getting the axe, and what they have in development. Today we are presenting five new fall shows that we have no interest in seeing no matter how the networks try to convince us. These shows look the kind of shows that could actually make us turn off the TV and get off the couch (*shudder*). Since we’re basing our judgment on clips and conjecture, we are prepared to eat our words when first episodes air and we realize the grave errors we have made (we take our words with gravy!) and/or bask in our brilliant ability to pick winners for television and take our talent to the horse track. Come back tomorrow when we look at five shows we are curious about.
“Whitney” on NBC
Whitney Cummings is hilarious. This show, however, is not. She deserves better and so do we. Use your time wisely and watch Whitney’s other project, “2 Broke Girls,” which is airing on CBS.
