If you watch IFC at all or ever, then you know how we feel about Judd Apatow (“Freaks and Geeks,” “The Larry Sanders Show,” “The Ben Stiller Show”) so it should be no surprise that we also love “Undeclared.” The half-hour comedy follows a dorm full of college freshmen at the University of North Eastern California. The action is seen through the eyes of Steven Karp (Jay Baruchel), a gawky kid who quickly develops a crush on the girl across the hall, Lizzie (Carla Gallo). Unfortunately, she has a boyfriend back home (Jason Segel), but this doesn’t stop Steven’s new roommates, Lloyd (Charlie Hunnam), Marshall (Timm Sharp), and Ron (Seth Rogen) from trying to convince him to go for it. Probably because it seems really unlikely that it will ever work and they can all laugh at his efforts. Steven starts to settle into life away from home, but his dad’s (Loudon Wainwright III) frequent appearances in the dorm room make it seem like he’s barely left.
As the show follows these characters, we see them grow, struggle, and we get to laugh along with them as they learn all about being an adult. The show was cancelled after only one season so we never get to see what happens next, but we have our memories and the re-runs we air on Mondays at 7 p.m. ET. In the mean time, here are five of our favorite moments from “Undeclared’:
Uh oh, there’s a roommate war on:
Someone’s got a crush:
Who’s the Head RA?:
It’s a sleepover!:
Cheating (tsk tsk):
