“Hesher” got a lot of buzz back at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. People were really intrigued by the possibilities of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a guy in Jesus hair and beard and tighty-whiteys dispensing advice and incendiary devices to a bereaved family (played by Rainn Wilson and newcomer Devin Brochu). It was one of the hardest interviews to get at the festival that year — as I recall, we had to grab Brochu, Gordon-Levitt, and director Spencer Susser on the street on their way to another appointment. But, like a lot of Sundance movies, it never found a distributor despite its impressive cast (which also includes “Black Swan”‘s Natalie Portman).
Over a year later, Newmarket Films will finally bring “Hesher” to theaters on April 15 (that according to ComingSoon.net; the film’s official site doesn’t list any playdates). And here is the trailer.
