Two years ago, French comedian Rémi Gaillard strapped into an over-powered go-kart, zipped through traffic-heavy roadways and produced real life “Mario Kart” — a funny, dangerous and wildly illegal pastime. This year, Gaillard returns to the sport that made him internet famous, but not without some competition on the track.
The pit crew at Facerocker.com see the Frenchman’s prank, and one up it with professional-grade special effects. This isn’t “Mario Kart” in real life, but Mario Kart as real life. Turtle shells, magic mushrooms and a particularly frightening man in a floating crowd roll, launch and float across the screen. They look real. Creepy, but real.
So now we have a race between two very different talents: the web friendly jokester and the special effects guru. Who comes out on top? You decide.
