You’ve most certainly heard of “Tron”, the cult Disney flick about Jeff Bridges and the inside of a computer. It was uprezzed for modern audiences this past Christmas with “Tron Legacy”. What you may not know about is “Rez”, a Japanese game that launched on the doomed Sega Dreamcast before becoming a cult hit of its own on Sony’s PlayStation 2. Rez too was about malevolent AI and uses vector art to great effect. Today’s time suck is like a happy marriage of the two.
“Fotonica” is a running game from the first-person perspective. So also sort of like “Call of Duty” without all the violence. Or fancy graphics. And with a riskier aesthetic. So sort of not like “Call of Duty”.
It’s fun and free as long as you have Unity installed on your browser. If you don’t, you should. Unity’s the next big engine. Especially if you’re into playing fascinating Tron-Rez-Call-of-Duty offspring.
