SXSW “Can’t Stop” Unveiling Premieres of “The Beaver” and “Paul”

Another day, another round of titles unveiled for this year’s SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Tex. Joining the previously announced world premiere of the Jake Gyllenhaal sci-fi thriller “Source Code” from “Moon” director Duncan Jones, the festival announced that they will also host the world premieres of the narratives “The Beaver,” starring Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster, written by Austin’s very own Kyle Killen and “The Innkeepers,” a new horror film from SXSW favorite Ti West (“The House of the Devil”) as well as the documentaries “Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop,” which chronicles the late night host’s summer tour across the U.S., “It’s About You,” which does the same for singer/songwriter John Mellencamp,” and “Cocaine Cowboys” director Billy Corben’s latest film “Square Grouper” about the Miami pot smuggling trade of the 1970s. In addition to the films that haven’t been screened anywhere else, SXSW will also present the North American premiere of “Paul,” the new comedy from “Adventureland” and “Superbad” director Greg Mottola, featuring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as a pair of geeks who stumble upon a real-life alien (voiced by Seth Rogen).
While you can get a taste for the films now with the trailers available below, SXSW will run from March 11th through 19th.
