If you’ve seen any of the trailers for the upcoming “Marvel vs. Capcom 3,” you know that game promises a dizzying, even chaotic, array of heroes and villains spanning two very different universes. As if that isn’t enough, Capcom has teamed up with yet another super-powered troop of animated characters: hip-hop’s esteemed Hieroglyphics. Whether you recognize Hiero as a unit or as individual acts, Souls of Mischief, Del the Funky Homosapien, Casual, Pep Love, and Domino, this crew of hardworking MCs and producers has been grinding away, churning out fun and often provocative music since the early 90s.
Friday, January 21st, Hieroglyphics kick off a six-date mini-tour sponsored by Capcom. (If you’re wondering why this is happening, the seeds of the collaboration were sown last year when members of the Hiero crew completed the song “Battle Drum” for “Marvel vs. Capcom 2.” See that video here.) Below is a promo video for the upcoming tour and a couple tastes of what to expect from a Hiero show.
