Before he ever met a Focker, Ben Stiller had his very own television show. The Ben Stiller Show aired on MTV from 1990 to 1991 and then moved to Fox from September 1992 to January 1993. The Fox incarnation starred Ben Stiller (natch), Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo and Bob Odenkirk (yes, from Mr. Show with Bob and David). And it was funny. Like, spit-take your Sprite in front of your date funny. But what would you expect from the comedic genius of the stars and the brilliant mind of the show’s producer, one Judd Apatow? The series even won the 1993 Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Series.
Now the show (plus some other great comedies) is coming to IFC. It premieres Wednesday, January 5 at 10:30 p.m. ET, but that doesn’t mean you can’t watch some of the show’s highlights while you wait.
For your consideration, The Ben Stiller Show:
Don’t forget kids, “Drugs Are Bad”:
Dim the lights and unbutton your shirt for “The Pig Latin Lover”:
Maybe Yo Gabba Gabba can make “Counting With Bruce Springsteen” a reality:
Number one lesson to learn from “Die Hard”? Don’t “Die Hungry”:
And Ben Stiller reminds us that even mega-band U2 had to start somewhere:
