Get To Know ‘Mr. Show’

Posted by Melissa Locker on
As you may have heard, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, and Undeclared are getting some new neighbors. Not only will Portlandia and the Onion News Network be on the air in 2011, but last week IFC announced that come 2011 we have some amazing new titles in our nightly line up. This acquisitions will ensure that we are THE place for cult comedies, especially ones with “show” in the title. “The Larry Sanders Show”, “The Ben Stiller Show”, and “Mr. Show with Bob and David” are all coming to IFC in January.
“Mr. Show with Bob and David” is a sketch comedy series featuring former Saturday Night Live writer/actor Bob Odenkirk and stand up comedian/actor David Cross. Yes, David Cross of Arrested Development and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. We like him. It aired on HBO from 1995 to 1998 and during that time span managed to mock pretty much everyone from Satanists to hermaphrodites to the Ku Klux Klan. The show featured a lot of fresh-faced talent who have become comedy stars in their own right, including Sarah Silverman, Paul F. Tompkins, Jack Black, Tom Kenny, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Brian Posehn, and Scott Aukerman.
Here are a few sketches from “Mr. Show” so you can know what you’re in for:
Rap The Musical:
Law School:
The Last Donut:
Monster Parties: Fact or Fiction?:
The New Ku Klux Klan:
The Civil War: The Re-Enactments:
24 Is The Highest Number:
Mr. Show premieres Friday, January 7 at 11 p.m. ET
