We can free videogames from the “dictatorship of entertainment”, using them instead to describe pressing social needs, and to express our feelings or ideas just as we do in other forms of art.
You can find this super-serious quote on the About page of the website of indie dev studio Molleindustria. The small outfit turned out “Every Day the Same Dream,” a sardonically bleak black-&-white meditation on the repetitious nature of cubicle-drone life that became a critical darling over the last year or so. Perdercini’s the most visible (and only?) member of MolleIndustria and his presence at IndieCade was a welcome addition, especially considering that he was rumored to be announcing the studio’s upcoming games. After seeing his presentation and all I can say is I want to play some of this stuff soon.
