Austin metal crew The Sword played at the IFC Crossroads House during SXSW, presumably between prayers to the Norse goddess Freyja (they named a song after her, playable on Guitar Hero II) and sacrifices to George R.R. Martin. These guys are in deep man, like Sabbath in Middle Earth. Shit’s raw.
Songs like “How Heavy This Axe,” and “Maiden, Mother, Crone” will have you driving your enemies before you, and rejoicing in the lamentations of their women for sure. Fun fact, the song “To Take the Black” off of 08’s Gods of the Earth album is a literary reference to the brotherhood known as the Night’s Watch in the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels which will soon be much less nerdy.
