SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (June 24)
Posted by Jim Shearer on
Sigur Ros, Med sud I eyrum vid spillum endalaust (left)
I’d love to see this album resting on an end-cap at the local Wal-Mart. The long title and album cover (especially all the naked male butts) would probably frighten a lot of people.
Three 6 Mafia, Last 2 Walk
Interchangeable numbers for words–nice!
RZA as Bobby Digital, Digi Snacks
I remember the last time RZA made a Bobby Digital album. I was going to record all the “Bobby” snippets and make my friend Bob Divirgilio a mixtape. I haven’t gotten around to doing that yet (sorry Bob).
Big Blue Ball, Big Blue Ball
The group’s called Big Blue Ball, the album’s called Big Blue Ball, and there’s a big blue ball on the album cover. Maybe the most literal release of the week (btw, this is a little project Peter Gabriel and friends have been working on).
Hercules and Love Affair, Hercules and Love Affair
Get your dance on, but think more Fresca than thick milkshake-type beats.
Motley Crue, Saints of Los Angeles (right)
Naked ladies forming a cross–sadly this album cover probably won’t frighten as many people as the Sigur Ros one.
Sam Sparro, Sam Sparro
As a Pittsburgher how can I not like a guy who has a song called “Black and Gold”?
G. Love & Special Sauce, Superhero Brother
Comic nerds, here’s one for you, name me the brother of a superhero?
The Watson Twins, Fire Songs
Remember the Watson Twins teamed up with Jenny Lewis not too long ago? They do a nice little Cure cover on this one.
Less Thank Jake, GNV FLA
Fun stuff!
Jessie Baylin, Firesight>
The musical equivalent of taking an after-dinner porch-swing ride in the summertime.
If I missed any good releases (which sometimes I do), please let me know below, thanks!
