Reading screenplays is mostly interesting post-feature, when you can compare the writer’s vision to what actually ended up on screen — you may have the best (or worst) screenplay in the world, but it’s not a movie until you’ve turned it over to a whole host of others who will pick at it, generally without any say on your part.
That being said, two screenplays of interest: Alan Greenberg’s screenplay for Werner Herzog‘s apparent next planned project, "The Cheese and The Worms" (an adaptation of Carlo Ginzburg’s microhistorical tome about a miller brought before the Roman Inquisition) is downloadable here (thanks to Ray Pride at Movie City Indie); and a script for Wes Anderson‘s "The Darjeeling Limited" that’s actually crossed our path before is downloadable here (thanks to Ted Z. at Big Screen Little Screen).
+ Herzog lifts his large, solemn head: stories and a script (Movie City Indie)
+ Early script for Wes Anderson’s ‘Darjeeling Limited’ (Big Screen Little Screen)
