In Reuters, the Weinstein Co. announces their release schedule for the rest of the year and their plans for 2006, among them to breed their two prize specimens, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino (regrettable imagery, we apologize if you have to take a break to wash your eyes with soap), resulting in a two-part horror film, "Grind House," which we’re hoping will be worthy of following in the footsteps of all the other fine horror omnibus films out there like, um, "Cat’s Eye," and "Tales from the Hood" and that one where the ex-priest fights Satan in the desert, but Satan’s like driving a black truck with tinted windows.
Also via Reuters, Fox Searchlight picks up "Confetti," a yet-unfinished Christopher Guest-ish improvised mockumentary, on the basis of 20 minutes of footage that screened at the Cannes market. Its cast is basically a Best of BBC America — Martin Freeman ("The Office"), Jessica Stevenson ("Spaced"), Stephen Mangan ("Green Wing"), Felicity Montagu ("I’m Alan Partridge") and others.
