Jason Gann - 'Wilfred'

Since graduating from the University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Acting Major) in 1998, Jason has worked extensively in film, theatre and as a musician.

Whilst still based in Brisbane, Jason appeared on stage in productions such as: Vertigo and the Virginia (Queensland Theatre Company), It Runs in the Family, A Passionate Woman, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Torch Song Trilogy, Hamlet (Twelfth Night Theatre), He Died with a Felafel in his Hand at La Boite Theatre and several seasons of Keep Everything You Love (for which he won Best Male Actor, Queensland Del Arte Awards).

Jason's love of, and commitment to short films is evident in the number he's appeared in, and the success they have achieved. Wilfred, the short film which Jason co-wrote with Adam Zwar, won Best Comedy and People's Choice Awards at Tropfest 2002 as well as Best Actor for Jason. Wilfred also won Best Film at "In the Realm of the Senses" and screened at Sundance, St Kilda, Palm Springs and Cork film festivals.

Jason won his second consecutive Tropfest Best Actor Award in 2003 for his performance in Buried. He has also acted in the short films Break-up International, The Way Back, Love Weights and Ain't Got No Jazz.

He has filmed roles in the feature film Thunderstruck (directed by Darren Ashton), The Illustrated Family Doctor (directed by Kriv Stenders), Gettin' Square (opposite David Wenham), the role of 'Ditch' Kenny in two episodes of Blue Heelers and a cameo role in Kath and Kim for the ABC.

In 2005 Jason filmed the lead role in the feature film Rats and Cats, which Jason also co-wrote with Adam Zwar.

Jason has just completed shooting the first season of the comedy series, The Wedge for Network Ten.
