Having grown out of his geeky demeanor and gained new confidence, Steven Karp arrives at the University of North Eastern California, eager to be popular and get into the dating scene. After meeting Ron Garner and Marshall Nesbitt, the beer-drinking guys who share his dormitory suite, Steven sets off with his roommate, suave Englishman Lloyd Haythe, to gather women for a party that night. Lloyd has no trouble attracting pretty girls. After Steven tries--and fails--to impress the ladies around campus with his style, he clumsily introduces himself to enthusiastic fellow freshman Lizzie Exley, who agrees to come to the party. Lizzie's roommate, Rachel Lindquist, also attends, despite her recurring panic attacks, which flirtatious resident adviser Lucien tries to use to his advantage.
