Sharon's career in comedy began when she won the BBC New Comedy award for sketch writing in 2001 with her writing partner Dennis Kelly. She has written and appeared in shows such as The Pilot Show and the first series of The Friday Night Project. Her acting credits also include EXTRAS, Absolute Power, Broken News and Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive. She appeared in the feature film Imagine Me and You, and provided a voice in the animated film Valiant. She has written for many comedy shows, including the acclaimed animated sketch show Monkey Dust. Sharon's own BBC comedy show, Pulling, which she co-wrote with Dennis Kelly, ran for 2 seasons, including a feature-length Pulling special and she also starred in Free Agents on Channel 4.

Sharon has won the British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Actress in 2008, was nominated in 2009, won the Southbank Show Comedy Award in 2009 for Pulling and won the British Comedy Award in 2009 for the Pulling special.
