Marc Maron, Reggie Watts and more head to Moontower Comedy Festival

Posted by on

Just in case you were looking for an excuse to head back to Austin, from April 24-27, the Texas capital will be hosting some of the biggest names in comedy at the IFC-sponsored Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival. In its second year, the comedy celebration in true Texas style, the festival is bigger, better and funnier, featuring close to 100 big-name national comics including Marc Maron and Comedy Bang! Bang! star Reggie Watts along with Jim Gaffigan, Anthony Jeselnick, Bill Burr, Todd Barry, Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander, Maria Bamford and SNL stars Bill Hader and Dana Carvey. The big names of comedy are performing alongside up-and-coming comics and local Texas comedians like Matt Bearden, Ryan Cownie and Kath Barbadoro and the winner of this year’s Funniest Person in Austin Contest, Ramin Nazer. The festival features comedy of every ilk and genre including stand-up, improv, sketch and even musical comedy.

Before the premiere of comedian and podcast host Marc Maron new series, “Maron,” which debuts on Friday May 3 at 10/9c, Marc will be appearing at four different events at the Moontower Comedy & Oddity Fest. First, he’ll be doing standup as part of his “Out of the Garage” tour on 4/25 at Stateside at the Paramount. Then he’s heading “Four Eyes” with other glasses-wearing comedians Andy Kindler, The Lucas Brothers, and Dom “Father Guido Sarducci” Irera for a conversation about how four eyes are better than two (we’re guessing) on 4/25 at The Parish. Then the lucky Moontower Fest audience will get an advance screening of “Maron” on 4/26 at Stateside at the Paramount with a Q&A with Marc afterwards. . And finally, Maron will be doing a live taping of his WTF podcast on 4/26 at Stateside at the Paramount with guests Bill Burr, Jim Norton, Dom Irrera, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Ian Black, Maria Bamford, Todd Barry and more. All these events require a Moontower Fest badge to get in, but don’t worry, because @MaronIFC and watch for opportunities to win a Fan Badge.

Your Portlandia Personality Test

The New Portlandia Webseries Is Going Your Way

Posted by on

Carrie and Fred understand that although we have so much in common, we’re each so beautifully unique and different. To help us navigate those differences, Portlandia has found an easy and honest way to embrace our special selves in the form of a progressive new traffic system: a specific lane for every kind of driver. It’s all in honor of the show’s 8th and final season, and it’s all presented by Subaru.

Ready to find out who you really are? Match your personality to a lane and hop on the expressway to self-understanding.

Lane 10: Trucks Piled With Junk

Your junk is falling out of your trunk. Shake a tail light, people — this lane is for you.

Lane 33: Twins

You’re like a Gemini, but waaaay more pedestrian. Maybe you and a friend just wear the same outfits a lot. Who cares, it’s just twinning enough to make you feel special.

Lane 27: Broken Windows

Bad luck follows you around and everyone knows it. Your proverbial seat is always damp from proverbial rain. Is this the universe telling you to swallow your pride? Yes.

Lane 69: Filthy Cars

You’re all about convenience. Getting your car washed while you drive is a no-brainer.

Lane 43: Newly Divorced Singles

It’s been a while since you’ve driven alone, and you don’t know the rules of the road anymore. What’s too fast? What’s too slow? Are you sending the right signals? Don’t worry, the breakdown lane is nearby if you need it.

Still can’t find a lane to match your personality? Check out all the videos here. And see the final season of Portlandia this spring on IFC.
