There are a lot of musical duos in the world, but none quite like Garfunkel & Oates. The comedy-folk duo of Riki Lindholme and Kate Micucci write songs about weed, sex, douchebags and pretty much everything else in between. It’s all things that most of us can relate to, but the songs are way funnier than any of us could come up with on our own. The dynamic duo brought the house down during an appearance at the Spirit Award, where they riffed on each of the Best Film nominees from “The Artist” to “Take Shelter” and “Drive.” They even managed to get laughs while singing about cancer-flick “50/50.″ Watch it here.
As you may have heard, Garfunkel & Oates is also working on a scripted comedy pilot for us. The pilot centers on the aspirations and misadventures of this musical odd couple, and will spotlight the personal and professional lives of the duo whose career choices – singing satirical and sometimes dirty songs – leaves them with little in common with their peers, and no one but each other to turn to for support and understanding.
As they work on the pilot, we thought we would take a moment to get to know Garfunkel & Oates a little better. Here are five of our favorite Garfunkel and Oates videos:
“Sex with Ducks”
“This Party Took a Turn for the Douche”
“Pregnant Women are Smug”
