Illeana Douglas stars as one time child star Wendy Ward, who after a bout with alcohol and drugs is supporting herself as a prostitute in Columbia TriStar International Television’s new comedy ACTION.

Illeana Douglas has been able to bridge an impressive career of independent and studio films.  Such notable projects have included her remarkable performance as singer/songwriter Denise Waverly in Allison Anders’ Grace of My Heart; the satirical To Die For; Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear; and the cult classic screwball tragedy Search & Destroy. Douglas’ additional film credits include Picture Perfect, Quiz Show, Goodfellas, Alive, Wedding Bell Blues and Grief.

Most recently seen starring opposite Stephen Rea in the independent comedy Hacks and opposite Kevin Costner in Warner Bros.’ Message in a Bottle, Douglas will next be seen in the Miramax comedy Happy Texas and in David  Koepp’s A Stir of Echoes. In addition, she is currently developing two feature films to produce and star in, The Lost Army and Life Without Dick.

On television, Douglas guest starred as Garry Shandling’s girlfriend on the final season of The Larry Sanders Show and in the highly rated CBS miniseries Bella Mafia with Vanessa Redgrave.  Her other television credits include Larry Gelbart’s Weapons of Mass Destruction for HBO and the TNT epic Rough Riders and the character ‘Carrot Girl’ on Seinfeld.

Douglas realized at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in the arts.  Inspired by her grandparents, screen legend Melvyn Douglas and Helen Gahagan Douglas (remembered for her 1950 Senate campaign against Richard M. Nixon), Douglas pursued her acting studies at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.

Douglas resides in Los Angeles with her husband.
