We knew that Jonathan Alter had a juicy story in the works when he hinted at it while speaking with us at Obama's Cooper Union address on Thursday but we couldn't have guessed this. Great reporting, worth reading — I have a feeling this story will be much discussed on the Sunday morning talk shows.

With John McCain off to the races on a general election ad campaign (see Will's post) and the prospect of a protracted battle (that is getting nastier by the day) lasting until August, Democratic party members seem to be taking the reigns, putting forth a number of potential resolutions from the one put forth in Alter's scoop to a combined ticket or even a superdelegate primary. IFC News went to the DNC today to get some answers. We met with a calm and focused party secretary, confident that the solution would be found and the party united in the near future. Watch our Election Special on Tuesday night for more.
