Who would have thought that an industry that deals in sex could be sexist? I thought we here in the adult industry (ahem...Porn Industry) were supposed to be open minded and forward thinking when it comes to sex....I guess I was wrong.
I first noticed it when I began directing. Almost every director (and certainly the respected ones) are men. John Stagliano, Brad Armstrong, Joone, Michael Raven, Peter North, Jules Jordan, Eli Cross... they are considered gods among porn fans. When I started directing, I got a lot of "how cute" and "who is really directing the movie?" I am not knocking the tremendous talent of the above mentioned group, but I think I have earned my place among them. I DID direct the most expensive and one of the most successful adult films of last year. And not only did I direct it, but I also wrote, produced, art directed, AND starred in it! And yet still, my own colleagues insist on referring to me as one of the best FEMALE directors in the business. Why can't I just be a great director? What does my vagina have to do with it? When will AVN hand over that Best Director trophy to one of us vaginally equipped directors? If not me, then how about Belladonna (who has certainly proved she can out nasty even the raunchiest boys) or Kelly Holland (who has outlasted most of the men) or any of the other qualified ladies?
It is also very strange to me how many places will not let me in because I am a porn star only to let Ron Jeremy cruise right past and into the VIP section. Just like in regular society, a male porn performer is idolized and a celebrity and a female one is a slut. WTF? Ron Jeremy has made a second career out of cameos and reality shows, but you think for a moment Jenna Jameson would have been as celebrated on The Surreal Life? OH wait... they did let a porn girl on tv... to humiliate herself on Celebrity Rehab. Coincidence? I think not!

Are you THAT naive!? You don't get into those clubs because they don't recognize you!!! Never saw you in any of the movies you claim to be in. OooooExtras.lol Who notices them. Yep, I always pay attention to who play 'hooker #1'. Jenna's always changing her face w/more surgery. How 'convenient' that you're 'seeing' Dave Navarro! Hmmm...does he always get his photos taken? Have rags talk about him? YEAH! Guess it doesn't bother you to use people. But I guess you're used to that. Wanna be taken seriously? DITCH THE DAMN BOOBS!!! If you want a forward thinking industry, get friendly w/ the independent film community, pay your dues. Nothing is always instantaneous.Not like your fake orgasms. In the regular film community, directors like Ang Lee are described as an Asian director. More often than not, the terms are used as an adjective and nothing more. Paranoid? Ron Jeremy has built up connections over the years. He's a real people person.You've been in the industry for what 5 years! Gimme a break! Again, you expect stuff to just open up your way. Well, barbie's don't always get what they want. In Hollywood, women like you are a dime a dozen. Don't care about the issues of the day? Yeah...just shop and stick your head in the sand or between a guys legs.lol Stop whining or trying to get guys feel sorry for you due to your abusive past. THAT'S deplorable! JUST DEAL w/ it! You're lazy and didn't want to get a real job where you would actually have to work and earn a living the real way. Some want to do it because they tried and liked it. But people like you try to point to their past for the 'reason' they're in it like you. Dave said you were damaged. More manipulation on your part? Well, the good news, at least you got your teeth fixed. That's more than I can say about Will Ferrel. Women like the suicide girls or those in the dove ads should be in porn. Barbie dolls should just get put back in their boxes. Cute dogs, though.
Interesting blog Stormy!! I have been meaning to post a comment for quite some time but was unable to register until now. I never really thought about sexism in the adult industry before as it seems that the ladies get much of the attention and the big contracts. After reading your blog I took another look at some of the praise heaped upon "Operation: Desert Stormy"(well-deserved praise, by the way)and saw what you were taling about here. Still, I think and hope times are changing not only in the adult industry, but the entire entertainment industry as well. Considering how multi-talented you are and all your mainstream appearances where you show your grace and intelligence you are definitely doing your part to eliminate sexism in the industry and the stigma many people have attached to those who work in porn. A case in point is your work with the ASACP and their RTA label to prevent underage viewing of pornographic materials. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next blog!
What the fuck are you talking about? I did not mention anything about my past in my blog nor was I ever abused...I love how ignorant people assume women in the adult industry ended up there because they had something happen to them or they are "damaged". I have never expected anyone to hand me anything EVER! I am a firm believer that anything worth having is worth working for and I certainly have never been called lazy. Anyone who really knows me will back that statement up...I love how you try to make it sound like you are actually someone that I know..."cute dogs" Wow! You know how to look at photos on myspace. I am not seeing Dave Navarro and never claimed to be seeing him...so try again! My blog was about being a female porn director and nothing more.
