Independent Media ! the final frontier.
As I watched the music career of my band Biohazard stay strong amongst the fans worldwide in the 90's while our bottom line spiraled down into the murky depths of finacial oblivion, I was plagued by an unceasing sense of impending doom, as if I were the captain of a sinking ship. It made no sense to me since our shows were packed and the tours were awesome, but then I reviewed the books. The income that we made from record sales had diminished to nothing. America had taken it's focus from album rock, and simplified it's sites on pay-ola radio and one hit wonders. The monopolization of the music business by the evil corporate machine that was playing games with my art and treating music as a product rather than a life force had taken the fun out of it for me completeley. I never chose music as a business, it chose me as my religion, my higher power and purpose. It almost felt incestuously wrong to make money from it., but as we grew up and had children and mortgages, it felt great to make a decent living doing what I loved. That is the American dream, yes?
Unfortunately the mindless masses of America have the attention span of what is currently being forcefed to them only. It was not long before long that a band that had sold 4 million albums worldwide, and was a cornerstone of social upheaval was out of business in the states, replaced by goofy commercial copies that were watered down like liquor in strip clubs in florida. Substance was not the key here, only the almighty dollar. A sad state of affairs, we continued our career in Europe, where the lack of a unified language disqualifies radio at any national level and allows the masses to make up their own minds about what they liked. We were like Rambo. Over "there" we could play sold out festivals for hundreds of thousands of people, but back here, in our homeland, we were bums. Maybe not to the loyal fans, who were downloading our music for free at this point, but that is an entirely other blog...
I met my wife in 2002, and we fell in love at first site. She was the hottest star in the adult business, but did not own any business, or anything. Someone was laying claim to her intellectual property, and saying they owned her name. It was like bizzaro land. We beat that in court and built our adult empire in just a few short years. We made more money in 2005 than my band made in 10 years, It was porn, and although I was not passionate about it, it was a labor of love, because rather than see anyone exploit my babygirl. I was going to use every ounce of this Brooklyn Kid's street savvy and art of the deal to make sure that the last laugh was hers, and that laugh, was going to be all the way to the bank. I guess my point is that although most of mainstream culture tries to disqualify porn,( even though they all watch it), The adult film industry is the final frontier. I love saying this because it is true to me. Adult video is the ONLY piece of Entertainment media that is not in one way or another controlled by corporate America. This is only so, because the the same companies that are slaughtering animals, destroying the environment, supporting illegal wars, and employing child slave labor are to moral and puritanical to touch something as dirty as movies of consenting adults enjoying some good clean dirty sex.
Im going to pass the Laptop to my better half, as she can usually shine some positivity on our dark existence
Hi Everybody,
My husband is so heavy all the time. That is part of the reason I think we make such a perfect couple. I am the ying to his Yang. We just got back from Japan, where I have to say I absolutely did not want to leave. The food, the style, the fashion , the respect for tradition coupled with the open embrace to new things makes me want to be Japanese. When I am in Japan, people's standard respect for one another makes me embarrassed to be an American. Just the simple polite customs and niceties that strangers bestow upon one another make it hard not to see how rude we are over here in the USA.
Bowing is a sign of respect and humility. We are busy trying to be celebrities and rappers. It seems the more we try to shine the more we dim our own light. I read a lot of eastern philosophy and attend a spritual non denominational service on the weekends, and strive for inner peace and enlightement. Seems strange to some that an adult film starlet wants to be centered and at peace. Don't pity me, I am not a runaway and I was not molested. I just chose a path less traveled, which for me was the right one, but is definitely not for everyone. I am happily married and love my life, my friends, family , dogs, and fans. I fancy myself humble and giving.... Not pretentious and self centered,. But the pride beaming off of the waiters, sales people, and bellman in tokyo is always eye opening. From the tiny details of how each sales clerk wraps everything you purchase in a store, as if it were a newborn baby needing snuggly warmth, to the selflessness of strangers who will walk you 20 minutes out of the way to help you find your way, wanting nothing in return reminds me never to become complacent in my quest to be loving servant of humanity
Don't get me wrong, I come to the land of the rising sun to buy the best denim, makeup's, and even to pinch the fashion sense of the local shibuya girls, who have adapted the American pop star-pornstar look into a hybrid of anime fantasy and straight up demure sexiness. On this trip I spent 5 days being tattooed Toburi style, as I completed the full sleeve dragon tattoo which was given to me the old way, by Hori Taku, a dear friend of my husband and I, eating at "standing sushi", shopping at 109 and around Harajuku, and of course visiting my mother ship, Sanrio's Puro land, theme park to my beloved Hello Kitty. I will take this trip every year to remind myself that tradition does not have to be bland, and that one should always try to be their best, maybe more importantly than to just have their best. Who am I kidding, I brought home 3 suitcases of hello kitty stuff, but I guess that just reminds me of being a little girl.. maybe that is why Evan calls me "BABY" and I call him "DADDY". I am truly blessed. I have a husband and partner who would go to the ends of the universe for me and I would for him. It seems strange to people that I allow my husband to have sex with other women but a hollywood marriage always seems doomed to failure. Maybe this is why our marriage works.
Working in the adult industry has been the highlight of my life. I've met and worked alongside some of the worlds most intriguing people and have traveled to more than fifty countries! I have won numerous awards and been published in so many magazines and newspapers I've lost count, Hosted my own television and radio shows, and found the love of my life. I will be the first to tell you money doesn't always buy happiness but it has afforded me the ability to make my dreams come true and those of my family too. I love life and all it has to offer. Everyday whether I'm hiking or filming a movie I take a minute to love myself and all those around me, my family, my pets, my friends. Smile at someone, practice kindness, you will be a better person for it
