Talk: Four Eyed Monsters

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 | 9:53 AM

"Four Eyed Monsters" is an autobiographical film about how Arin Crumley & Susan Buice met in 2002 and really didn't speak for the first 4 months of their relationship. They treated their relationship as an experiment to learn what love is, document their experiences and then present their findings.

The film premieres on IFC April 25th, and all 13 podcasts (including the all-new episodes #9-13) will be posted daily on IFC.com starting April 26th.

We'd love to know what people think about the film, the podcasts, and the phenomenon of "Four Eyed Monsters." Love it? Hate it? Don't get it? Speak up!

I think IFC would have a much richer web presence if they A) did away with the registration requirement for commenters and B) created a message board / forum. Just grab a copy of phpbb somewhere.

'Netizens have a limited tolerance for one more (i.e. their 206th) website registration. How many usernames / passwords can we be expected to remember? If you want to encourage rich dialog on your website, enable anonymous commenting. Otherwise all the COMMENTS(0) you see will continue. Similarly, a forum where users can dictate and moderate their own discussions is basically imperative if you want your website to be more than a fancy press release.

A little harsh, I think, but basically Josiwe is right. It took me about three or four minutes to register, confirm email, sign in, when posting this comment didn't even take that long.

It would be smart to allow sign in with OpenID as well as a register while commenting type for where you input the registration info in the same form as the comment itself. Then if you really MUST have an email confirmation, do it after the commenter has submitted a comment... Higher conversion this way. People doen't notice the hoops til they've already jumped most of the way thru. After the effort of posting the comment, who would turn down a simple follow-this-link email? Not me.

About Four Eyed Monsters, I'm really glad to see IFC getting behind it. It will be interesting to see how IFC viewers respond to FEM, and if it induces any crossover between TV and Web.

I think Four Eyed Monsters is a good fit with the IFC brand.

And surely the filmmakers are glad to be getting the film out there even more, and getting themselves out from under it.

Thank you for getting the film out. Already there are people posting photos of them with their new DVDs. I like the release and the inclusion of the music CD. So thank for going the extra mile to help them out and have a good release. People are asking when it will be available at other stores and online... The word on the street is that it is one of the most anticipated DVDs ever. Especially an indie film with such a huge online following.

PS thanks for getting the page and episodes back up.

Can someone please tell me how to get a simple "printable" 'Monthly' SCHEDULE out of the IFC website. I like to plan ahead, to add to my personal film library of over 18,000 titles and 8,000 documentaries. I can't even find a "Contact Us" link on this website! What is one suppose to do....read their bloody minds?! Sure could use someone's help here....Thanks. Attaboy.
